Friends of Scouting

This is the annual fundraiser of the Boy Scouts of America, with the money used to help fund the costs of Scouting throughout the entire Council Service Area. These costs can add up to approximately $182 per Scout per year. This includes the support and professional staff, youth recruiting, leader trainings and training materials, year round camp facilities, and leader support materials to just name a few.

We fund some of these expenses through two types of campaigns:
Community Campaign is held throughout every community by groups of local volunteers. They approach local businesses and ask for support of Scouting in that community.
Family Campaign involves presentations to every Scouting family during the Blue and Gold Banquet, Court of Honors, or other parent attended meetings. Volunteer presenters explain how Scouting is funded, distribute pledge cards, and explain how the families of Scouts can help.

Those donors who contribute $1,000 or more to our Friends of Scouting campaign will receive a special “Golden Eagle” print. For the past nine years renowned wildlife artist, Ross Young, has created a painting depicting various wildlife themes. The entire Golden Eagle Collection is on display at the Clarence R. and Edna M. Wheeler Scout Service Center in Springfield, Missouri.
