June Roundtable
The June Roundtable will be at its normal time and place at the Methodist Church in Willow Springs at 7 PM on June 8th. At this month’s roundtable we will be discussing the new Cub Scout Delivery Method, and upcoming events for the summer and plans for the fall recruitment.
June OA Chapter Meeting
There will be an OA Chapter Meeting on Tuesday June 8th at 7:00 PM at the Methodist Church in Willow Springs, in conjunction with the regular monthly Roundtable. All Order of the Arrow Troop Representatives are invited to attend, as well as any OA member that would like to participate.
2010 Osage Hills FOS is at a Record Setting Pace!!
The Osage Hills Friends of Scouting Campaign is at 93% of our $22,000 goal and is still growing!!!! WHOO HOO!!! We have the potential to have raised more money for Scouting in our district this year than we ever have before and we have the potential to do it faster than we ever have before. A special thanks to Tom Rouse, Bob Crudgington, Jon Smith, and Greg Beykirch for helping coordinate this year’s campaign, but most of all a special thanks to all of you who were willing to help support scouting financially. Without your help we wouldn’t be where we are, but we’re not done yet. If your unit has not yet received a Family Friends of Scouting presentation and would like to receive one to do your part, please contact Kevin Walker or Tom Rouse as soon as possible. If you aren’t affiliated with a unit and would like to contribute to one of our Community campaigns, please contact Kevin Walker.
Nominating Committee Taking Nominations (click here)
If you hadn’t heard, we have reformed and restructured the Osage Hills District Committee. By structuring the District Committee according to the National Boy Scout recommendations, we are left with a great number of vacant positions. That is why we are in the process of using a newly formed Nominating Committee to fill these positions. However, this committee needs your help. If you, someone in your unit, or just someone you know might be interested in helping by serving at the District level, we would love you to recommend them to the Nominating Committee. Positions that need to be filled are District Commissioner, Finance Chairman, Membership Chairman, District Popcorn Co-Kernel, as well as, committee members for the Finance, Membership, Camping, Activities, Training, and Advancement Committees. District Day Camp (click here)
It’s that time of year again; time to start signing up for Cub Scout Day Camp. This year’s theme is Dinosaurs and the Ice Age!!! This is going to be a really COOL theme and I’m getting really excited for it!!! This years Day Camp will be held July 19-21 at the park in Willow Springs next to the City Water Park (same place as last year). Camp fees are $32 for all three days (same as last year). Please start making plans for your Pack to attend. Our Camp Staff is working hard preparing for an awesome Day Camp this year. We would love to have all of our Cub Scouts come out and join us, so mark it down on your calendars and start discussing it with the parents in your units. If you have a Scout that needs financial assistance please have their parents complete and submit the Camp Assistance form found on the Camping page by June 1st.
2010 District Popcorn Kick-off
It’s getting close to that time of year again. The 2010 Trails-End Popcorn sale will soon be here. The Osage Hills District Popcorn Kick-off will be on August 24th at 6:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Willow Springs. There have been a great number of really positive changes to the popcorn sale this year, so in order for your unit to up to date on all them, it is very important that your Unit Popcorn Kernel be in attendance. Each unit that attends the District Kick-off will receive a sale kit worth nearly $100, which includes a Marshmallow Crossbow!!! But the only way you can get this is by attending the Kick-off. Start discussing this with your unit committees and sign up quickly for the 2010 Popcorn Sale. All units are asked to sign up for the 2010 Popcorn Sale by July 31st. Unit Popcorn sign up forms are on the front page of the Council website.
